Samara Beach/Playa Samara and its neighbor Carrillo are located 7 miles from each other in the province of Guanacaste, in the upper Nicoya Peninsula, smack dab on the Pacific Ocean, 4 hours of paved road from San Jose.
PEACE AND TRANQUILITY
They are both protected by offshore reefs which provide calm swimming waters, and snorkeling and fishing just offshore. Its lazy waves are perfect for kids (no undertows to worry about) and have waves enough for bodyboarding and beginning surfers.
Samara´s walkable size affords a variety of accommodations on the beach and just inland, and a wealth of restaurants and bars (catch the 2 x 1 happy hours). There´s plenty of shopping and people watching opportunities if you could just get out from beneath the shaded beach area, cut back on the snoozing, and go catch up to the guy with 3 horses in tow for a wonderful beach ride.
There´s lots (or nothing) to do. There´s Intercultura language school with its beachside campus, ziplines, snorkeling, fishing, birdwatching tours and forest hikes, quads and bike rentals, and plenty of hammocks around.
Go and see Brenda at the Samara Info Center for the best deals and all the up to date information on Samara doings, or better yet, try their website www.SamaraInfoCenter.com
